My son Luca was born still at the Labour Ward of the Whittington Hospital in North London, UK, following the heartbreaking and agonising decision to terminate our pregnancy at 26 weeks (approximately six months) due to a lethal genetic condition that he was diagnosed with.
The hospital's incredible maternity and bereavement staff are beyond amazing, but what is currently lacking is a bereavement suite. Bereavement suites are comfortable, private, sound-proof rooms exclusively designed to host families before, during, and after a stillbirth.
I am raising funds towards the creation of such a room within the Whittington Hospital, in order for families who have to go through the unthinkable to feel safer and better looked after, as well as make lasting and precious memories with their little ones.
